Every employee at Dalziel & Pow receives an annual volunteering day to focus on supporting the causes that matter to them the most.

This year, two of our wonderful employees teamed up together to support Her Dreams Count, a female-founded, refugee-led organisation which delivers educational programmes and technology workshops to young women in the Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda.

Founded by Sybille Anny Izere, who spent a decade living in the settlement herself, the organisation is rooted in lived experience and driven by a powerful mission: to expand access to education and employment opportunities for young women. Sybille has long served as a role model for young women in the settlement, using her platform as a changemaker to elevate community voices and collaborate with partners, working to expand digital access and strengthen support for refugee leaders and young people.

D&P Graphic Designer Isabella Wordsworth has supported the organisation for three years, working with Sybille and the young women to create a refreshed brand identity that feels representative of the people who interact with it and that encapsulates their energy and strength. Through running workshops with the volunteers and the young women in the Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Bella has focused on translating the brand into a refreshed website and online presence that spotlights the young women and includes language, colours and imagery that dutifully represents them.

Bella developed a brand book for the organisation’s refreshed identity that is rooted in light, warmth, and optimism. It captures the feeling of being surrounded by dreams, hope and the shared strength of a sisterhood, evoking both connection and empowerment.

The refreshed identity spans a new colour palette, typography, tone of voice, iconography and applications of how Her Dreams Counts can show up in the world including merchandise, paper and digital.

Visually, the identity balances deep blue and bright orange: a palette that expresses depth alongside joy and creativity. At its core, the identity embodies a sense of hopeful momentum, reflecting an organisation where potential is illuminated and individuals are inspired to take hold of opportunity and bring their aspirations to life.

Isabella Wordsworth, Graphic Designer, said “It has been an honour to contribute to Her Dreams Count’s journey, especially during this pivotal period of transformation as the organisation adapts to the evolving needs of the girls it supports. The most meaningful part of my experience to date has been spending time with the girls and volunteers on the ground, gaining a deeper understanding of their perspectives and bringing those insights to life through the brand identity.”

This year, Marketing Executive Jessica Walter also got involved with the organisation, using her strategic marketing insights to help contribute at a pivotal moment in the organisation’s growth.

As the organisation prepared to launch a new website alongside the refreshed brand identity earlier this year, Jess supported by developing a considered, multi-channel content strategy to support the launch. This included writing website copy, creating a social media playbook, and identifying relevant press, awards, and event opportunities to help extend the organisation’s reach.

Jessica Walter, Marketing Executive, said “It was incredibly rewarding to apply my marketing knowledge to support a mission as important as Her Dreams Count. Being able to dedicate my volunteering day to developing a strategy that strengthens the organisation’s voice and impact was a real privilege. A huge thank you to Sybille and Bella for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful moment for the organisation.”
