Sitting on the fence is no longer an option; consumers expect their brands to have an opinion and a stand for something.

In Stylus’s latest Innovation Forum, which we attended last week, they shared a great campaign by Doritos – a vending machine that highlights the importance of registering to vote. Each customer was asked if they had registered to vote in the upcoming elections, and if they answered no they received a grey bag with cardboard triangles for chips… The message was simple – this is what it feels like to have no choice.

Doritos said, “For us, we just want to encourage that voter registration and voter turnout. We don’t take sides; we’re non-partisan. So for us, what’s important is that people engage in the process.”
