The Challenge

Portuguese brand Zippy sells clothing and accessories for children aged 0 to 14, with a strong emphasis on design, innovation and value for money. They came to us with a brief to invigorate their store environment, capturing the imagination and creativity of children whilst inspiring and facilitating the adults’ needs.

The Solution

We created an entertaining and inclusive shopping experience filled with ‘pockets of play’ to up for the fun for children in-store. We designed three interactive installations: the Sound Poster, Balloon Dispenser and Fun Receipt. Our Digital, Graphics and Environments teams worked closely to ensure the installations complemented the store concept we created as well as the met functional and hardware restrictions.

Balloon Dispenser

A big mouth mural reflecting Zippy's playful side doubles up as a balloon dispenser, blowing up colourful takeaways for each child who visits the store.

Sound Poster

This screen-printed wooden panel uses conductive ink to trigger sounds when touched and acts as a great boredom-buster for younger shoppers. It stars a cast of original characters who respond to touch with their own unique noises.

Would you like a receipt?

Another giant mouth mounted on the cash desk prints out receipts for kids to grab and take home - a much more exciting experience than the usual end-of-purchase handover.

Fun and games

The receipts feature colour-in characters, mazes and games for children to enjoy back at home once the store experience is over.

Getting animated

Cute characters created in line with Zippy's branding are brought to life with animations, popping up on screens around the store for children to discover.

Fun communications

Friendly messages around the store help guide customers, with a bouncy typeface and Zippy's new characters giving all communications a sense of lightheartedness and joy.
