With the opportunity to double the retail space by taking the floor above, Topman requested that we create a retail environment to launch their Oxford Circus flagship store, as a beacon for the brand and a template for future openings. Divided by wearing occasion, the lower floor is devoted to denim and casualwear, while up the escalator the entire level is about tailoring, guest brands and an extensive footwear offer. The increased floor space allows for new and more convincing fixed departments, plus a hub called ‘Area 214’, which includes an Eat café, Style Advisor, Customer Lounge and Barber Shop.

The general space allows for large-scale statements, such as bold navigation signage, the feature staircase linking the two floors and a strong fitting room treatment. The directories use a combination of quirky typefaces and the monotone signage scheme is striking in an environment full of colour and ever changing product. Topman Oxford Street is a powerful statement, finally putting it on a par with its sister brand.
